Peter and Me

A good story grabs your attention and your heart. If properly delivered, it can shift your perspective and open your eyes. The hero struggles, strains, strives, fails, overcomes, and finishes in victory or defeat. We cheer, empathize, wince and sigh when we relate to the hero's plight.
Peter is a classic hero. He scrambles out of the boat and into the waves simply to lose his footing in the middle of the storm. He proclaims Jesus' identity and then, shortly afterward, he speaks lies. Peter declares fervent commitment immediately before denying his relationship. However, after he learns to be driven by his heart instead of his emotions, Peter succeeds in becoming one of the most influential people in Christianity. Imagine what the church would be like without Peter.

Like I've said before, I see so much of myself in Peter's passionate action. Peter never did small things. He was either in the thick of everything or totally out of sight. I am the same way. Even in Peter's extreme nature, God still loved him, utilized him, and continues to use him to draw people to Christ.

I desire for my life to be a story that people can read and see God at work. I want my seconds to be words on a page that shout the glory of God, the depths of his love, and the beauty of his power.

As we see in Peter's life, and I pray that you see in mine, God writes his story with us when we are submitted to him.
